Spending a summer at Camp in the US was one of the most rewarding and unforgettable experiences of my life. From the moment I arrived at camp, I was welcomed into a vibrant, supportive community that felt like a second family. Working with children from all over the world allowed me to develop my leadership, creativity, and problem-solving skills in ways I never imagined.
Every day brought a new adventure, from leading activities like archery, arts & crafts, American football, and hockey to name a few as well as campfire nights filled with laughter and stories. The bonds I formed with my fellow counsellors were incredible, we worked as a team, supported each other through challenges, and created lifelong friendships. Beyond the fun, this experience taught me so much about responsibility and adaptability. Seeing the kids grow in confidence and skills throughout the summer was truly inspiring, and knowing I played a role in their journey was deeply fulfilling.
As an international participant, the process of joining the Camp program was seamless yet exciting. From doing all of my research I simply created an online profile highlighting my skills and experiences with children, I then attended an interview to showcase my enthusiasm.
After being accepted, my profile was shared with camps in the U.S., and I was matched with a camp that aligned with my skills and preferences. Once I was hired, my paperwork was issued and attended the US Embassy for my interview where my visa was issued.
Once I arrived in the U.S., I joined the camp team, met my fellow counsellors, and dove straight into camp life. Every day was filled with rewarding work, from leading activities to building confidence in campers, all while making lifelong friendships.
After camp, I had the chance to travel across the U.S., exploring places I’d always dreamed of visiting.
